Castella

By June Oh

castella, in its own way, is

an art that is painted onto

canvases of breadpans and

muffin tins—

a nugget of rich gold bound

together by the honey it reeks

of. this honey is retrieved from

the kindest of bumblebees

who let you borrow their

creation knowing there is

no return. and my tongue

becomes soaked to prepare

for a tasteful delivery yet

my heart knows to be

patient, for i must…

oops.

my mouth couldn’t wait.

My name is June and I am a 15-year-old at North Hollywood High School. For me, writing is a form of escape and catharsis from the hardships of the world, and I find myself scribbling in my notebook multiple times throughout the day. In addition to writing, I enjoy listening to music, hanging with friends, and playing with my dog in the backyard!
