Imagination

By Mateo Fontes

Found a moral compass in the blood orange sun

Blood thicker than the water I just drank

Family is who makes you feel at home

No matter the place

Only Love can conquer hate

When my nostrils flare like a match stick

I use the flame to light my way out the darkness

That made me blind to the crescent moon’s smirk at me

Feel free to branch out and become fruitful

Trying something new could at first seem unusual

Like eating exotic fruits in cool weather

Journaling your thoughts down

And singing out letters

It’s never too late to learn something new

Stay true to yourself and let your flower bloom

Birds with their feathers against the wind

Write a poem

And don’t be afraid of the fruit flies that come

To decompose your sweet words

Love

Say yes to new dreams, nodding yourself to sleep

Catching Z’s to seize the day when it comes

Itching for a dream that has to be worked from scratch

On the top, it is steep, time to jump

Kiss the ground bye, and remain down-to-earth

Using the imagination is fun
