We are still on the third bank of that river

By Jacqueline Sampaio

Across the river

I saw the figure

Of the past, present, and future

waved to me

Old friends

Visit me all at once

Mental confusion

It would be love that makes the heart flutter

the cold sweat

The seasickness?

Or would it be why

Like old friends we are

In that sea of chaos before us

And the eminent desire to leave for the other side

We met each other

Again and again

To feel that camaraderie

from old friends

who got hurt a lot

And that, even so, they face each other

Separated by the river of time

Hello, my name is Jacqueline and I am from Brazil. I started to write poems in 2013 and since that time I did not stop with it. I like to write about feminism, mixed race, being an immigrant, love, friendship, etc. Sometimes I write about sad things, a hobby that nowadays is my therapy. As a person with an autoimmune disease, you can imagine that I write a lot about pain too. I hope that you like it!
